Another Great Cactus for just about any application from rock gardens to containers. You just cant beat the white almost soft and fuzzy looking spines and then this Bright Show-Off of a flower, and they send off a number of them all spring and summer. Just dont be fooled by the soft look, they are a "fishook" type of spine, they dont really hurt if you get unlucky but there clearly a look and dont touch plant! LOL tongue.gif

If you have more information on these just post here, or if you have some questions or stories we hope you'll share.

This one is just about my favorite. I found something similar only with less prickles in the desert once and I was hooked. There are lots of flowers that bloom in sucession so you get a long bloom period. They color is awesome. They are also really easy grow. Just can't take direct sunlight all day.

I am finding I have better luck with the low squatty cactus as opposed to the tall upright. Haven't figured out how to pot them yet so they are stable. I go out to the greenhouse every once in awhile and find one leaning over, pot and all. I am going to try larger more shallow clay pots and see if that helps them stand up.

Do you propogate these from the flower seed?

Yes you can, and if you need or want to grow allot of them the seed pod will produce allot of seed, there fairly easy to grow from seed but you just have to wait to get them up to a nice size... cactus take time,.
Another way is of course from the many offsets these give, I'd guess about half of the current inventory is from offsets but I'm hoping that I'll have a good seed set in the pods this year and then grow many more.
Its is a good thing about globular cactus, they don't fall over very much!,,, LOL

I'll get some pictures on some columnar cactus and start another topic on tips or tricks for keeping them upright just as soon as I can smile.gif
