Allspice resulted from a cross of Imperial grapefruit and Willowleaf mandarin made by H.B. Frost at UC Riverside's Citrus Research Center in 1917. The fruit is small but stands out for its rich, spicy fragrance and flavor unlike any other tangelo - true to its name. A midseason ripener, Allspice was never officially commercially released, making it a genuinely rare find for collectors and home growers looking for something outside the typical citrus lineup.
