NonPareil is the industry-standard commercial almond variety, prized for its thin, soft shell and large, flat, smooth kernel. Unlike self-fertile varieties, NonPareil requires a pollinator - Monterey, Carmel, or All-N-One are good matches - so plant with a compatible partner for a full crop. Early bloomer with a moderate chill requirement, NonPareil is a heavy, consistent producer and remains the highest market-value nut in commercial almond production.
